Almost Perfect

We got too good at pretending Like nothing could ever bend us Smiles a little too rehearsed But it still feels worth it Your laugh sounds the same But your eyes hesitate We say “it’s nothing” out loud Like that makes it true We don’t fight, we just pause Leave words hanging in halls Every silence feels small But it’s loud enough too We’re not broken, not yet Just bending under the weight If this is love at its best Why does it shake? We were almost perfect Yeah, we almost had it If I’m honest That’s what hurts the baddest We were almost perfect Just a step too far Close enough to touch it But not enough to keep it ours Maybe love don’t crash It slowly fades We were almost perfect Say it like a fact Not a lie, not a story Just the truth we had We were almost perfect And that’s the part that hurts ‘Cause losing something broken Never cuts like losing what almost worked Yeah... Almost perfect
