First Night Felt Forever

Streetlights painting your face Summer air, nothing to chase I didn’t know your last name yet But I knew I wouldn’t forget We laughed like we were late to something Like the world could wait outside Your phone died, time did too Felt like the stars were on our side You said “this feels kinda crazy” I said “yeah, but don’t stop now” Every second getting heavy Like a memory already loud If this is all we ever get I’m good with just tonight If this disappears by morning Let it burn this bright That first night felt forever Like we had nowhere to go No past, no pressure Just your hand in my coat That first night felt forever Didn’t care what came next If love’s just a moment I’m glad it was this I didn’t know your scars You didn’t know my fears But for a couple hours We were fearless That first night felt forever We were young, we were real If the dream breaks later At least we felt it That first night felt forever Say it slow if you remember Even if we lose it all That first night felt forever Yeah... That first night
