Afterlife

You said "See you in the afterlife" Then you left your sweater on my chair Half a joke Half a goodbye Now it still smells like your hair I keep your coffee cup on the shelf Ring of stain like a little eclipse Talk to the air like you're still here Name hanging loose on my lips If there's an afterlife I hope it's just You in my hoodie Feet on my dashboard Cussing at the rush If there's an afterlife Let it rewind Rain on the windshield Your hand tracing circles on my thigh If there's an afterlife I want this life One more time I scroll your messages in the dark Blue light burning holes in my eyes All the typos All the half-thoughts Feel more honest than goodbyes Your sister drops your stupid jokes Into group chats just to see us break We laugh ugly Then it gets quiet Grief tastes like birthday cake If there's an afterlife I hope it's just You in my hoodie Feet on my dashboard Cussing at the rush If there's an afterlife Let it rewind Rain on the windshield Your hand tracing circles on my thigh If there's an afterlife I want this life One more time Maybe you're out there Learning how to sleep in Telling the stars All our secrets I keep in If you can see me Forget the white light Meet me at our spot Same booth Same fries If there's an afterlife I hope it's just You in my hoodie Feet on my dashboard Cussing at the rush If there's an afterlife Let it rewind Rain on the windshield Your hand tracing circles on my thigh If there's an afterlife I want this life (Come back driving through the) same stoplights One more time
