Almost

I got the meal You spilt your wine The restaurant's closing Lost track of time Back at your house now You say it's a mess But it's just a stop gap I take off your dress We got close, started to feel Only to leave soon as it's real We've got so much in common, including the issues I'll pull away 'cause I know that I'll miss you That's when it hits me, so suddenly You were almost the best thing that happened to me I could pull the car over, got nowhere to be You could say how you feel, but you chose something mean That's when it hits me, so suddenly You were almost the best thing that happened to me I'm in New York We've had some space You're in the ballgown Fresh out the rain (silence through the elevator now) You come up to 305 'cause you hate the noise (you hate the noise) And your friends are all stood outside, talking to boys And I haven't moved on and you don't get out much You're still holding me back, it's still me that you trust We've got so much in common, including the issues I'll pull away 'cause I know that I'll miss you That's when it hits me, so suddenly You were almost the best thing that happened to me I could pull the car over, got nowhere to be You could say how you feel, but you chose something mean That's when it hits me, so suddenly You were almost the best thing that happened to me You could say how you feel But you chose something mean You come up to 305 'cause you hate the noise It hits into my lonely nights, hearing your voice Wonder if we really tried, you'd never be Almost the best thing that happened to me
