Forgotten Flowers

The asphalt shimmered like a mirror in your eyes Springtime in the air was painting love in the skies And I forgot that moment would ever come When once again I’d hear you, where have you gone? The whisper of the wind, like the touch of your lips Would tell me softly of the love that we missed The heavens know the story of you and me But for now, they’re sleeping silently You created my dream From the pieces of our hearts Then you simply walked away And left a tragic end An unfinished melody Of the love we used to know Can’t quite say the words Of what has faded far away An unfinished song An unfinished verse Only one forgotten bouquet Left behind on a bench A dream will wake you gently at the dawn And you will feel these words when night is gone Now you’re the only one left in this story And you’ll realize you were right all along You’ll understand that I am still beside you Our fire never completely died You’ll see a cloud up in the sky above you Shaped like a heart—the one you took from me You created my dream From the pieces of our hearts Then you simply walked away And left a tragic end An unfinished melody Of the love we used to know Can’t quite say the words Of what has faded far away An unfinished song An unfinished verse Only one forgotten bouquet Left behind on a bench The rain will tell the story Of how cruel the winter was How we broke our wings And lost ourselves in madness The shutters have been boarded And now there’s ice inside my chest There are no footsteps to be heard No one will ever come here again You created my dream From the pieces of our hearts Then you simply walked away And left a tragic end An unfinished melody Of the love we used to know Can’t quite say the words Of what has faded far away An unfinished song An unfinished verse, Only one forgotten bouquet Left behind on a bench An unfinished melody Of the love we used to know Can’t quite say the words Of what has faded far away An unfinished song An unfinished verse Only one forgotten bouquet Left behind on a bench
