Lost Summer

Faded polaroids on the dash Barefoot running, watch the waves crash Salt on your skin like a sweet drug Never knew time could pull the plug We were golden, reckless and young Sang along to every song we sung Now echoes are all that remain Like a fading tattoo, your name Lost summer, slipping through my hands Lost summer, sinking in the sand Lost summer, lost in the thunder Lost summer, pulling me under T-shirt tan and the smell of rain Dancing slow through a hurricane Carved our names in the boardwalk pine Said forever, now an outline Late night drives with the top rolled down Yeah, we ruled that sleepy beach town Cheap sunglasses and a stolen kiss Nothing ever felt as real as this Lost summer, slipping through my hands Lost summer, sinking in the sand Lost summer, lost in the thunder Lost summer, pulling me under
